Flashback

21 years of life have gone. I just can't believe how did i get to this age. Really, it's a miracle. This shows my time is not up. God still has things that He wants me to do.

Have you ever wondered why you are at your age? The reason is because God still has work for you to do. If your work on earth is done, then it's time for you to leave this earth. Otherwise, you still have work to do.

I'm thankful to God for watching over me and brought me through my ups and downs. As i reached 22 years old....now, i reflect on my life, and all i can say is i'm grateful to God.

Parents, friends, and loved ones have come in, brought me joy and happiness, and some even left scars. But those are just life. And they thought me more things.

So i dedicate my birthday to the One Almighty. May He grant me the desires of my heart, and may i grant Him the desires of His heart too.

It's Near

So, the GE falls on the 8th of March 2008. No GE is not General Electrics, it's General Election.

I was a little troubled at how our GE is managed. Just 2 days ago our dear Prime Minister said that the Parliament will not be dissolved anytime soon, and there will be more Cabinet meetings to come. And yesterday our PM announced that our Parliament was dissolved. I don't feel quite nice with that dishonesty there. You may argue it's politics, and it's a strategy to win the GE.

How about this? Why did our PM keep it so secretly the day of GE? There were many press conferences and interviews that requested the date of GE, and our dear PM kept saying it's soon without giving any form of hint.

Again you can argue it's a strategy. But to me, that is an unfair strategy. Being a democratic country, and fairness has been on the lips of our fellow politicians, is this the action taken correctly? If you claim to have a fair country, then let the opposition parties compete fairly with the current government. Give them equal time to hold ceramahs and conferences to the public. And not keeping everything all by yourself.

Just a while ago i was watching the live broadcast of an interview with our Chairman of SPR. One reporter asked about the BERSIH demonstrations. All he did was to ignore the question and moved on to another question. Well you and i know that the BERSIH was about some sort of problems in our election system, and that fellow Chairman could not give any answer to that. Something must be wrong. Wonder what could that be....

Time to Bond

Chinese New Year is a great time to celebrate reunions and spend time with relatives, especially those that we don't see often during the year.

When i was younger i loved CNY for the sake of play-time and fire crackers. But as i grow older i see beyond those : relationship bonding.

On the first day of CNY, my mom and i traveled down south to Muar, Johor to meet up with my grandma and relatives. I started the journey at around 11.15am. After one and a half hours....

If you can see, we haven't passed KLIA!!! What was supposed to be a 15-minute drive along the PLUS highway was 1 and a half hours for me! Such terrible jam. And after two hours....

With the 2-hour journey i could have reached Muar. But it took me 2 hours just to get to Seremban, not even half the journey. So the whole journey took me 4 hours. My butt and my whole body was so pain. You try it next time if you drive 4 hours non-stop. LoL

CNY was well spent with my family and relatives. Here are some of the pictures taken.

My cousins : a few not in the picture, and a few more have come to this earth.

This is 2 years old. Naughty, but very cute.

This is 5 months old. You can't stop carrying him, or he cries. LoL

A few of Grandma's wonderful grandchildren.

Especially this one. *wink*

Me with Fann Wong, the Singaporean artiste and model. Nah, she's just my cousin. haha

You're always inspired to eat when you're with my uncles. See their sizes, and how they eat roasted pork, especially the one at the right. They are my eating kaki's.

I can say my CNY was well spent, except that the first night my cousins and i went to CC to play CS. But i still cherished every moment spent with my relatives, especially my Singapore cousins (the girls that you saw in the pics, except "Fann Wong"). They've grown so much prettier than the last time i saw them, which was 2 years ago. haha.

CNY is a great time for relationship bonding and creating new relationships. I look forward to the next CNY, i really do.

Start To Finish

Many have used the New Year occasion to form resolutions - to change habit, to be better, to start a band new life etc. Wonder how many have failed since then? I have.

I watched a movie, and one of the scripts said : "Every passing minute is a new beginning"

I wanted to change, and to start a new life, a life that is much better than last year. But looks like i have to work harder. I'm sure many feel the same. It seems like what's ahead of us is such a tough and difficult job to do.

It seems that what you want, is a long journey. It's going to take a lot of effort. When you think how hard you need to do, you lose spirit. You procrastinate, and you fail.

But what we need is to really start doing something. Many of us fail because we are afraid to start the effort. If you don't start, you won't finish. Whether your assignments, projects, revisions, or work. The first step to succeed is to take the first step.

Once you've put your first step in, you'll find that things are not really that bad. Your body and mind have adjusted to the stress level and the pressure. It'll be better if you LOVE what you do. Things become easy, and you find that you're almost done. You're reaching your goal, your finishing line.

Once you've taken the first step, you've run the journey, you've reached the finish line, you can look back and be grateful that you've taken the first step. You feel a sense of satisfaction and success.

Therefore, you and me need to really take the first step if we want something done. Whether it's to change your old life, or to finish a task. For me, i am both. I need a fresh start, and to get some things done.

So, let's be brave and don't procrastinate in taking the first step. Remember, if you don't start, you won't finish.

Why Gong Xi Fa Cai?

Why do Chinese like to say Gong Xi Fa Cai during Chinese New Year?

Gong Xi Fa Cai, when translated to English, means, "Congratulations for you've prospered".

Obviously prosperity here means monetary increase, you know
lah, Chinese people, everything also money.

Some people say Gong Xi Fa Cai when they receive angpau's. What if they person that gave the angpau did not actually prosper, but made a huge loss before CNY? Some people give angpau out of obligation.

So if you say Gong Xi Fa Cai to everybody, you might actually hurt some people who did not
'fa cai'. Ouch! Imagine the hurt.

During Chinese New Year also kena hurt. Imagine the level of self-esteem, will shoot down like 1987 and 1997 economy crisis.

So i don't say Gong Xi Fa Cai during Chinese New Year. Just say simple things like Happy New Year, or Thank You (with a smile) when people give me angpau. Simple rite? Won't hurt anyone.
