Science and Technology

Science and technology is so advanced that it went beyond humans' imaginations. Over the past decade, science and technology has allowed mankind to choose the sex or gender of our babies. Is that for real? Yes it is. It is practical now.

Some arguments in favor with sex selection is that there needs to be a family balance. Couples choosing the genders of their babies claim that they need to balance their families. If you have daughters and no son, then you would want to have a son, thus "balancing" your family.

Second argument is that couples want to avoid genetically transmitted diseases, such as hemophiliacs. This disease can be avoided if you select the other gender. Therefore family quality is improved.

Third argument, which i think is silly, is that some families prefer males over females. Well i won't deny some people or countries are like that. This practice began down the history road.

Couples who have done sex selection using science and technology claimed that they did not destroy any live. Neither did they harm any life. Instead, they created a new life.

This situation is debatable. But whatever it is, i believe let's not fall away from the biblical principles.

God created man in His image. God gave special functions and roles to each of us even when we were in our mothers' wombs. While not forgetting both man and woman have equal access to God. For there is no favoritism. Life, in God's eyes, is futile. And He determines the direction of our lives, yes even getting a baby, whether male or female. God knows everyone even before we were created.

If God intends you to have a female, and you want a male, so you rely on science and technology to select the gender that you want. Isn't that disobedience in a way?

It doesn't matter how advance science and technology can go. It somehow doesn't mean any benefit to us if it can "thwart" God's plans for us, like selecting the gender of our fetus. Science and technology is not necessarily all good, it depends. For example this case.
